Shop small business Saturday

MT. PLEASANT — Main Street Mt. Pleasant will offer giveaways to encourage shopping at downtown businesses this Small Business Saturday, Nov. 26.

“We will be giving away over $1,400 in gift certificates to downtown businesses as well as the larger prizes,” Main Street Director Lisa Oetken said.

From 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Main Street will give away gift certificates to shoppers that bring a minimum receipt of $50 from purchases made during Small Business Saturday at downtown businesses.

Receipts should be taken to Santa’s house at Central Park.

Those that receive a gift certificate will be entered into prize drawings every ½ hour starting at 9 a.m.

Prizes include a custom accent chair from Dream Home Furniture and Floors, a wireless charging station from Main Street Mt. Pleasant, a lady’s silver crystal choker form Becker’s Jewelry, cookies a month for a year from Central Park Coffee, an Ugg blanket from Brown’s Show Fit and other merchandise and gift certificates from local retailers.

“Small Business Saturday is very important to the downtown businesses,” Oetken said. “They are not just competing with malls and chain stores. They are now competing globally with all of the online shopping.”

“Our local businesses continue to give back to our community,” she said. “They are who sponsors your Little League teams or gives to your nonprofits. They are your neighbors and friends. Small businesses are what makes our downtown thrive.”
