NEW LONDON — Due to recent rain causing slick conditions, Eric Rugg, 26 of Mt. Pleasant, went into the Fourth of July with significant damage to a 2017 GMC Canyon. On July 3 at approximately 1:25 a.m., Henry County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle in a ditch near the intersection of Quacker Avenue and 240th Street outside New London.
Upon arrival and investigation, responding personnel learned Rugg tuned west onto the level B road 240th Street where the slick conditions caused his vehicle to enter the ditch and strike a culvert. The vehicle became partially submerged.
There were no injuries reported and the damage to the vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Rugg was cited with Failure to Maintain Control of a Motor Vehicle.
