Southeast Iowa Band offers free band concert, Meet the Band

Join us at our free student and family-friendly Meet the Band concert and reception on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. at the Chapel Auditorium on Mt. Pleasant Community School District Central Campus in Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to the concert the program will serve as an introduction to the instruments and sections of instruments of a band and is perfect for students of all ages but especially those interested in picking an instrument to study.

Each instrument will be both individually introduced with an explanation of how the instrument works and will feature some musical demonstrations of sections of instruments and how they sound.

The band is under the direction of Robert McConnell who said, “I’m really excited to offer this opportunity for younger students, but also adults, to learn how instrumental music sounds are actually produced and to hear how each section of instruments fits in with the others. I really think many adults will enjoy this challenging program enormously.”

The band draws 46 members and includes 23 band directors along with many talented players from the region.
