Mar. 15, 2023 11:46 am
MT. PLEASANT — The City of Mt. Pleasant invites residents to rid their homes of the unusual or large items that are too big to fit into the garbage bag on regular collection days.
The city will host Spring Clean Up for the week of April 24-29.
Wegima Waste will perform the collection work on residents' normal garbage days.
The city asks that residents do not place items curbside until the week before Spring Clean Up.
CANNOT AND WILL NOT PICK UP:
Tires, waste oil, batteries, roof shingles, ashes
Liquids, such as antifreeze, household chemicals, and wet paint
Construction materials of any kind such as drywall, wood etc.
Televisions and computer monitors
Yard waste appliances
The city asks residents to keep the following in mind:
Leave the lids off your paint cans. They will collect old paint cans with dried paint.
They will accept carpet, but please tightly roll and tie the material for collection.
Reminders about garbage stickers:
Please adhere stickers no earlier than the morning of your pickup date to avoid losing stickers to scavengers.
Limit pile sizes to the equivalent of 6-feet-wide by 8-feet-long by 4-feet-tall. Separate metal to keep piles tidy.
Residents must use a minimum of eight stickers for the entire pile.
Depending on the pile size, residents will likely use between eight and 12 stickers.
