MT. PLEASANT— Wednesday, Old Threshers annual Harvest Day Parade chugged through Mt. Pleasant with music, smiles, and lots of candy.
Of course, steam engines and tractors littered the Harvest Day Parade, as parade-goers were given a glimpse into what Old Threshers is all about, honoring history and celebrating community.
Mt. Pleasant High School marching band, led by the vibrant flag-toting color guard, played lively music throughout the parade route.
The color guard stood out as their neon-colored were heard swooshing as they passed by.
The Sweet 16 candidates smiled and waved as they passed through the parade in their sweet-as-pie Old Thresher’s outfits.
Each candidate will be seen throughout Old Threshers volunteering through Sept. 5.
Horses big and small clopped pass the parade-goers with many young people excited to see them in all their equestrian beauty.
“Look, look,” Almost 3-year-old Clayton Warner said enthusiastically as he pointed. “Horse!”
Children have the opportunity to watch and enjoy equestrian exhibits throughout Old Threshers, as well.
Children, and some adults, were reminded to remain close to the curb as the parade continued and enthusiasm for candy and photos pulled parade-goers further and further into the street.
With the unique historical characteristics of the reunion, there were plenty of photo ops available.
As the parade wrapped up, the community buzzed with excitement in anticipation for the long awaited Old Threshers Reunion.
