MT. PLEASANT — Many Henry County organizations will come together for Healthy Henry County Community’s third annual Stride Into Summer Family Walk Sunday, June 2 from 1-4 p.m. at East Lake Park.
This fun, free, family-friendly event will feature a number of activity stations families can stop at as they take a walk around the loop at East Lake Park. Organizations providing activity stations include Henry County Public Health, Alcohol and Drug Dependency Services (ADDS), I-Smile, 1st Five, The Family Connection, Community Partnerships for Protecting Children (CPPC), Domestic Violence Intervention Program (DVIP), ISU Extension and Outreach, Henry County Disability Services, Elevate, Mt. Pleasant Community School District, and the Mt. Pleasant, New London, and Winfield libraries.
Additionally, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office will fingerprint children and provide parents with an ID kit. They also will give away some bike helmets for kids and raffle off a few bikes. The Mt. Pleasant Police Department, Mt. Pleasant Fire Department, Iowa DNR, Iowa State Patrol, and Henry County EMS also will offer activities promoting summer safety topics.
Upon arrival, participants should sign in and pick up a goody bag at the tent by the tennis courts. A wagon or stroller is recommended.
In case of rain, the event will be postponed until Sunday, June 9. For more information and updates visit Facebook.com/HealthyHenryCounty or call Henry County Public Health Community Outreach Coordinator Kelly Carr at (319) 385-0779.
