MT PLEASANT — There is quite a bit of summer fun left in Mt. Pleasant, and Main Street is excited to provide some of it.
Main Street Mount Pleasant’s goal is to preserve the quaint downtown atmosphere in Mt. Pleasant through community involvement and fostering friendly small town qualities.
July 8 classic cars will cruise into the downtown square again, but this time, Main Street has partnered with the car crew and downtown businesses to offer a sidewalk sale at the same time.
If July 8 is already booked, however, the community is invited to check out the Main Street endorsed official sidewalk sales Friday and Saturday July 15-16.
According to Main Street Mount Pleasant President Lisa Oetken, one of Main Street’s most popular events is coming up this July.
Friday, July 22, Ag Music on Main will take over central park.
This annual event will host a free concert from The Boys, games, and prizes.
Where there is outdoor fun in the county, there is also the Henry County Pork Producers, who will serve fresh eats in the Mt. Pleasant streets at the Ag Music on Main event.
The community is invited to participate in the traditional pedal tractor, bounce houses, and a kids train.
New this year, Main Street will host a bags tournament at Ag Music on Main.
Rounding off the summer, Main Street plans to host “So You think You Can Cook,” July 30 and the “Farm-to-table Dinner” August 6.
Oetkin is excited to work with the community plan upcoming events, and the first event was a community meeting held Wednesday, June 15 at the Union Block.
According to Oetkin, the meeting was well attended, but the planning is in the very beginning stages without much to share at this point.
Another community meeting is anticipated for the fall so the new event calendar can be set before November.
The best way to keep tabs on all that is happening with Main Street is through their Facebook page or by visiting their new website www.mainstreetmountpleasant.org
