MT. PLEASANT — Superintendent John Henriksen discussed director districts and legislation as he gave his report to the board Monday, March 15 during the regular monthly meeting.
Following meeting with planning committees, Henriksen shared the general consensus of the direction he expects the district to go for director districts.
“I think the general consensus is changing, going from five director districts and two at-large seats to two director districts, with two directors from each of those two districts, and then three at large seats,” he said.
According to Henriksen, many of the board of director seats are up for re-election this fall.
“As we look forward to this fall, we actually have got Jennifer [Crull]’s seat, Josh [Maher]'s seat, Chuck [Andrew], Angie [Blint], and then Melinda [Huisinga],” he named those coming up for re-election. “Well so there will be five vacancies for election.”
Through conversations with the school attorney, Henriksen stated that they recommend a 10 day posted notice for the change of districts.
“There is no standard for posting notice,” Henriksen said. “They're recommending minimum 10 days.”
To find the proposed director district changes, visit the Mt. Pleasant Community School District website and look under News and Announcements.
The board will review the resolution at the April school board meeting.
