Swedesburg Lutheran Church to host Orgelmusik Concert

Swedesburg Lutheran Church announces the first Orgelmusik Concert of the 2024-2025 season. The concert will be held Sunday, Sept. 22 at 3 p.m. at the Swedesburg Church.

The featured artist will be Stephen O’Baker, the organist at Faith Lutheran Church in Clive. A native of Michigan, he has a degree in Organ Performance from Central Michigan University and then studied for a year with David Higgs of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. He was introduced to the organ at a young age by his church organist grandfather and thus became a church organist at the age of 16. His contributions to church music have been very versatile, directing choirs and handbells, overseeing children’s music ministry, starting a ukulele band as well as contributing organ music.

The concert is free and open to the public. There will be a free will offering for the church’s organ fund. Also, please mark your calendars for Dec. 22, 3 p.m. for an exciting Christmas season presentation of Lessons and Carols directed by Blair Buffington.
