Swedesburg Lutheran to host Orgelmusik Pipe Organ Concert Series
The new music series begins later this month at the Swedesburg church

SWEDESBURG — Swedesburg Lutheran Church will host an Orgelmusik Pipe Organ Concert series beginning Sept. 24 at 2 p.m.
The Orgelmusik series will feature talented local artists playing the historic and recently renovated pipe organ at Swedesburg Lutheran. The Karstens pipe organ included 1911 pipes and 28 ranks (different voices/styles of sound).
The first artist featured in this series will be Dr. Paul Skevington. Skevington holds degrees in organ performance from Indiana University and a doctoral degree in Liturgical Music from The Catholic University of America.
For 28 years, he developed a high acclaimed sacred music program at Saint Luke Catholic Church in McLean, Virginia He recorded five compact discs on the Saint Luke Organ and is the music director at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant.
The concert is fee and open to the public to join in-person at 1897 140th Street, Mt. Pleasant or online at www.facebook.com/swedesburglutheran. There will be a freewill offering for the church’s organ fund.
The renovated organ was rededicated on June 4 including an organ recital by Jan Kraybill. Swedesburg Church saw an in-person audience near capacity of 275. Online viewers totaled 870.
Swedesburg Lutheran Church will hold the second concert in the series Saturday, Nov. 18 with their very own organist Christopher Arp.
