MT. PLEASANT — There are nine days left of the current self-guided hike: Survival Skills at Oakland Mills trails.
Oakland Mills staff want to engage the community and encourage them to get out into nature. One way they do this is with self-guided hikes.
The current hike, Survival Skills, came out Aug. 5 and will run through Aug. 18.
“Take a walk on the trails at Oakland Mills and learn if you have what it takes to survive in the wilderness!” the Oakland Mills website says.
Receive instructions and directions to your next location beginning at Turtle town, which is next to the Oakland Mills Nature Center.
Once the hike is completed, free activity kits await hikers at the nature center or business office during business hours.
These self-guided hikes are free and fun for the whole family.
While spending time in Oakland Mills for the self-guided hike, don’t forget to swing in at the Nature Center to see the latest exhibits and cool off inside.
The center is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon from mid-April to mid-October.
The nature center hosts myriad information on the area.
Visitors are invited to learn about the Skunk River Valley, local wildlife, and experiential exhibits.
Oakland Mills contains many adventures for all.
