TapestryFest to celebrate diversity and unity in Mt. Pleasant
The fest will return with music, snacks, and activities to celebrate diverse cultures

MT. PLEASANT — The vibrant tapestry of cultures in southeast Iowa will be on full display at the annual TapestryFest celebration on Saturday, July 13 from 1-4 P.M. in Central Park in Mt. Pleasant. This beloved community event is co-sponsored by PFLAG Mt. Pleasant and IowaWINS.
TapestryFest honors the rich diversity of traditions, experiences, and perspectives that make Henry County a uniquely dynamic place. The family-friendly festival fosters an environment of mutual respect and understanding, allowing attendees to discover shared values amid the differences.
"TapestryFest is a joyful celebration of the many threads that are woven together to create the colorful fabric of our community," Lynn Ellsworth of PFLAG Mt. Pleasant said. "We invite everyone to join us in embracing our uniqueness while finding common ground."
Festival highlights include:
— Celtic music from Blame not the Bard.
— Musical and dance performances representing diverse cultures
— International food vendors with delicious snacks and dishes
— Interactive exhibits showcasing customs and traditions
— Children's activities promoting cultural awareness
The event is free and open to all. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
