The courage to answer the call

Jesus is coming soon. Some of you who read this may be ready to make that decision to make Jesus Lord of your life and follow Him.
Somewhere along the line it has been made seem that following Jesus is a comfortable journey when the reality it is, it's not.
Jesus says in Luke 9:33:
'If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”
Did you see one of the key words in there. 'Daily.” Being a follower of Jesus isn't about saying a prayer one time and then going back and living a completely different lifestyle. Following Jesus is transformational and requires giving up our wants and desires in exchange for God's plan for our life. (His plan is so much better than ours anyway-ultimately).
His plan may not be comfortable. In fact Paul in his letter to Timothy in Timothy 3:12 said,
'Indeed, all who desire to live Godly in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
Sound like fun? Sacrificing our desires, being uncomfortable and persecuted ...”why would I want to follow Jesus?” you may say.
Remember I opened up and said Jesus is coming soon? Life is so much more than life on this earth if you aren't a believer or follower of Jesus. There is a far bigger picture. In John 3:16, Jesus said,
'For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Being a follower of Jesus is more than church attendance, it's more than a persona, it's personal, literal and one of the most rewarding decisions you will ever make.
I encourage you who are reading, evaluate and ask yourself, am I really a follower of Jesus. If you aren't, I would ask that you join us on this mission of reaching lost souls for Jesus.
It's harvest season here in Iowa. The farmers are out picking corn and beans. It's harvest time spiritually. There are those in this world, in our country, in our state and in Henry County that are waiting and ready to hear the news of Jesus Christ. Will you go? Will you answer His call?
