NEW LONDON — Tiger fans will celebrate homecoming in New London with a week full of activities beginning Sunday, Sept. 24 and running through not only the big football game against WACO Friday, Sept. 29, but also a volleyball game Saturday, Sept. 30.
The school invites the community to come watch as they kick off the week Sunday as high school students play Kickball Under the Lights at 7 p.m. Seniors should wear black, juniors should wear white, sophomores should wear yellow gold, and freshman should wear neon pink for the event.
Monday middle and high school students should come prepared to show off patriotism in red, white and blue for the homecoming dress up day followed by evening activities.
Monday evening the high school E-Sports team will compete at 4 p.m., junior high volleyball will play an away game, and junior high and junior varsity football teams will play Winfield-Mt. Union at home at 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday students are encouraged to come to school matching someone or something for Twin Day. That evening E-sports will compete at 4 p.m. followed by volleyball matches for all high school teams at home against Central Lee beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Armed with anything but a backpack and wearing jerseys, students will continue celebrating homecoming week Wednesday with Boom Night.
Beginning at 6:30 p.m. the night will kick off with the homecoming parade followed by kid’s cheer camp on the track at 7:30 p.m., introducing the homecoming court and their parents at 7:45 p.m., boys’ volleyball at 8:05 and Powderpuff football at 8:30 p.m.
Thursday New London Tigers will show their spirit with beach gear. Again E-sports will compete at 4 p.m. followed by volleyball matches for all high school teams at home, this time against West Burlington beginning at 5:30 p.m.
As students file into school for the last day of classes before the big game, they will obviously display their school spirit in black and gold New London Tiger’s spirit gear.
Before the game against WACO kicks off at 7 p.m. the homecoming king and queen will be crowned at 6:45 p.m. Following, what Tiger’s hope will be a win against WACO, students will dance the night away in the high school gym until 11:30 p.m.
In case any Tiger wants to keep the school spirit running strong, the varsity volleyball team will then compete in a tournament Saturday morning at 9 a.m. to wrap the full week of homecoming fun.
