HILLSBORO — New life continues to be breathed into the resuscitation of tradition as the Hillsboro Community Picnic returns this Saturday Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. in City Park.
A free will donation cook out will kick off the festivities with hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, sides, and desserts.
Classic car enthusiasts will line the street with their most prized rides for attendees to enjoy.
Families will enjoy games of horse shoes, cornhole, Frisbee toss, and other children’s games to drive home the close-knit hometown feeling.
The City of Hillsboro and local businesses donate to a silent auction and picnic fund to make this event possible.
City clerk and member of the planning committee for the picnic Dani Jackie, says that he favorite part of the event last year was seeing everyone come out to enjoy a meal together and get to know their neighbors again.
“We do plan on continuing this tradition for future generations,” Jackie said.
As for this year, “Everyone is welcome to attend and the more the merrier,” Jackie said.
