MT. PLEASANT — Henry County Treasurer’s Office continues routine work as they grow their driving test examiner crew, prepare for tax season, and continue office renovation.
“March 14, we have our driver's license examiner recertification with the Dot supervisors,” County Treasurer Kelli Sloan said at the March Department Head meeting. “Four of us are going to be recertified, and one of us will be new.”
“So if you see us coming and going, we have six drives scheduled that day, so we'll be going in and out with the supervisor,” she said.
Sloan anticipates an additional drive examiner will provide a lot of help to the department.
As Sloan prepared for the annual audit which determines if the department is in compliance with the 28 E agreement, she felt confident.
“ … from the email that she sent out to us, it looks like that for the year, our office only had three errors, two of which we caught them and had the Dot correct,” she said. “I don't think that that's too bad, considering how many people we see in a year's time frame.”
According to Sloan, the treasurer’s office will need to collect $12.3 million to collect for the month of March in taxes.
“So, we might be a little busy up there this month,” she added.
While the Treasurer’s Office continues to work as normal, they also await the competition of a small office renovation.
“We got the extensions added onto our counters,” Sloan shared. “So far, we have had a lot of good feedback on that. Everybody's like, ‘oh, thank goodness you have that.’”
“Just gives the customer a little bit more room,” she explained.
The expanded space is not quite ready for use, just yet.
“We're waiting on some brackets because they kind of have a dip in the middle because they're too wide, so they got to have a bracket in the middle, and those aren't supposed to he said the middle of March, we're going to get those in,” she said.
“Once he gets those in, then they'll be more secure and we can move some stuff around,” Sloan said.
