MT. PLEASANT—Two people died and three more were injured just after 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, during a single car crash south of New London at Highway 34 and Racine Avenue.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a 2014 Chrysler driver by Sean Reid was traveling westbound on Highway 34 at the 246 mile marker when the vehicle went off the roadway to the south.
The vehicle then crossed eastbound traffic and entered the south ditch and struck a parked truck, which then caused the vehicle to roll on its side and come to rest.
Two fatalities resulted: Sherry Reid, 50, of Stockport, and Judith Ellis, 73, of Ollie.
Sean Reid, 48, of Stockport, and Carol Johnson, 65, of Fairfield were life-flighted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Henry County Ambulance transported Tammi Ellis, 48, of Ollie, to Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center.
