MT. PLEASANT — Bodie Rodgers counts himself lucky after his involvement in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Dec. 27, Rodgers’ truck collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Old Highway 34 in Mt. Pleasant.
Emergency services took both drivers to Henry County Hospitals.
“It was so violent,” he said. “I’ve never been in an accident so violent.”
According to Rodgers, the impact occurred at highway speeds.
“God reached out with both hands and caught us both [Tuesday],” Rodgers said in light of both drivers only sustaining minor injuries.
Rodgers broke his thumb and received a scratch from his ankle to his knee.
“I haven't been able to remember her name but she's fine as well,” he said.
The mildness of Rodgers’ injuries are impressive considering Rodgers is currently recovering from spinal surgery.
“I just got out of spine surgery three weeks ago [Tuesday],” he said. “For me to not be in the hospital today is just dumbfounding.”
