Unkrich receives Cattleman of the Year
Henry County Cattlemen’s Association holds annual banquet
MT. PLEASANT — The Henry County Cattleman celebrated the county’s cattle industry at the beginning of this month as they awarded the County Raised Steer, County Raised Heifer, and Cattleman of the Year awards at their annual banquet.
As they enjoyed a delicious meal of red meat, cattlemen from throughout Henry County gathered at St. Alphonsus Church in Mt. Pleasant to celebrate.
Winfield was well-represented at the banquet as the highest honor of Cattleman of the Year was awarded to 1967 WACO graduate Stan Unkrich.
The Champion County Raised Heifer went to Klopfenstein Simmentals which breed purebred and percentage Simmental cattle out of Wayland.
Another professional at raising award winning cattle, Trever Kelley, also walked away with recognition as he received the award for Champion County Raised Steer at the annual banquet.
Kelley works with Tyler Hertrampf selling show cattle throughout Henry County and beyond from their Kelley/Hertrampf Show Cattle operation located in Mt. Pleasant.
