MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce invite the community to join them for a unique ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday, Sept. 29 at 2:30 p.m. in the second floor of the Chamber office.
This ribbon-cutting will celebrate the official opening of The Uptown Cell.
A $10,000 grant from Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority and a matching donation form Mt. Pleasant Area Development Commission funded this venture.
Through the work of the Mt. Pleasant High School CELL (Civic Engagement and Learning Lab) Class, TAG students, and the Chamber, the second floor of the chamber can now be utilized as a new work-based learning center for area schools.
Students can use this space to work on projects and presentations and meet with leaders in Mt. Pleasant’s business community.
Additionally, the Chamber will utilize the space for meetings and other gatherings that did not quite fit in their current offices.
The school and chamber will host the ribbon cutting together with punch and cookies provided by the school’s culinary class.
