VBC eliminated at Mediapolis

MEDIAPOLIS - With how good the Mediapolis football team has ben in 2020, it was easy to see Van Buren County's Class 1A first round matchup was an uphill climb, but the Bulldogs really made it hurt on Friday night, beating the Warriors 54-6 to end VBC's season.
Mediapolis was red-hot early in the game. The Bulldogs put up 47 unanswered points in the first quarter, including a 60-yard punt return in the last five seconds to take a commandinglead in the first quarter. Mediapolis tacked on another score in the second period and the Warriors found themselves trailing 54-0 at the break.
For what it's worth, VBC outscored Mediapolis in the second half. The Warrior defense pitched a shutout in the final two quarters, and the offense scored with 7:52 left in the game on a 1-yard touchdown run by Lane Davis. That score capped off a 93-yard drive.
VBC ended its season at 1-6, with the Warriors' only win coming in their season opener against Central Lee. Mediapolis (6-2) advanced on to Round 2, where they will travel to West Branch.
