MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant community is invited to a celebration and dedication of the Saunders Park Plaza Monday, Aug. 29 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Join the celebration at Saunders Park Plaza located directly across from the Mount Pleasant Aquatic Center at the TTT Shelter.
Freshly grilled hamburgers and hot dogs are provided by Hyvee, and Whiskey Friends will perform before the program and ribbon cutting at 6:45 p.m.
This is the first of five community vision projects headed by the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance and fulfills the identified need to enhance trail systems in the area.
The vision project concepts overall seek to improve community identity, aesthetics, wayfinding, and walkability throughout Mount Pleasant.
“It’s only fitting that our first community vision project includes so much of the history of Mount Pleasant as well as the many dedicated leaders that make Mount Pleasant special” said Executive Vice President of the Chamber Kristi Perry.
The project is an exhibit of how the community works together to make visions reality.
The dedication will be attributed to the beloved Scott and Amy Lowe.
The Lowe’s dedicated their time and talents to the Mt. Pleasant community and restored the Main Street Theater.
Pat White and the Henry County Heritage Trust contributed a trail head that includes a history of Saunders Park.
The City of Mount Pleasant Parks Department made trail improvements, added plants and created a trail map in contribution to the project.
For more information, please contact Kristi Perry at the Mount Pleasant Area Chamber Alliance at 319-385-3101.
