CRAWFORDSVILLE — The youngest and oldest WACO students connected this last week. With graduation just around the corner, WACO High School’s senior class took a stroll down memory lane last week as they visited WACO Elementary.
According to WACO High School Principal Tim Bartels, walking the elementary school hallways became a tradition his first year as principal with the 2019 graduating class. Now, five years later, the tradition continues.
Dawning their caps and gowns, the 2024 graduating class loaded up and headed from the high school in Wayland to the elementary school in Crawfordsville where they visited former teachers, marveled at how small everything now appears, and connected with young students that look up to them.
After taking a walk down memory lane through the halls of WACO Elementary, the graduating class stuck around for recess with the class of 2037. Even on the cusp of graduation they’re never too old for a little fun. Setting aside their graduation gear, they played basketball, tested out the teeter-totter, slid down the slides, and explored the equipment.
In only a few days these very same students will celebrate their hard work over the last 13 years at their graduation ceremony planned for Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 p.m.
