Winfield’s next WAGG (Winfield Area Grateful Gathering) is coming up soon. Gary and Shannon Van Nyhuis will be the guest speakers/musicians on Saturday, June 7, at 6:30 p.m. We will gather at Winfield’s United Methodist Church.
Gary Van Nyhuis serves as associate pastor at Faith Christian Outreach Church, in Mt. Pleasant. His ministry journey began as a youth director in Fairfield in 1991, after receiving a Bachelor of Art degree at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake.
Gary graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1997 and served as a Youth Minister in LaSalle, Illinois before joining the staff at FCOC, in 2001. He served as children’s pastor for six years, music minister and now serves as the campus minister at the church’s Fairfield site.
His wife, Shannon, worked in the Winfield-Mt. Union School District in 2009-10 and now teaches at Mt. Pleasant Christian School since 2010, receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa Wesleyan University in 2009.
Shannon has always partnered in ministry with Gary over the years, whether children’s ministry, writing VBS plays, playing keyboards in music ministry, coleading small groups or Bible studies. Shannon is also a Rhema Bible Training graduate.
Gary and Shannon’s passion is to help lead others to Christ, become committed Christians, and grow in their walk with the Lord through discipleship & small groups. Their prayer is to help others connect closely to God on a deeper level through praise and worship, and teaching the Bible.
One of their life verses is a charge by Jesus Christ: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness …”
They aspire to fulfill this personally, in marriage & family, and by training others to give God first place always.
The couple has been married for 28 years and are the grateful parents of two sons ages 23 and 19. They make their home in Mt. Pleasant and enjoy going for walks, time outdoors, and travels.
All are welcome to join WAGG to experience His inspiration, refreshments and fellowship. Bring a friend and be a part of the Grateful Gathering!
