WAYLAND — With the 51 st RAGBRAI making it’s way through Henry County this summer, overnight towns and pass thru towns alike are making plans, including Wayland.
On Friday, July 26, RAGBRAI riders will make their way from Ottumwa through Wayland on their way to Mt. Pleasant for their overnight stay. Wayland also remains noteworthy on the route as riders will have the opportunity to choose to make the century loop between Wayland and Mt. Pleasant.
As the Wayland community prepares for all that comes with being a pass thru town, they announced their theme “Pedal to Our Porch.”
While they wish to create a welcoming experience for RAGBRAI as it passes through, organizers are asking for volunteers to make everything possible. Organizations such as churches, youth groups, and club sports are asked to contact Wayland City Hall at (319) 256-3276 for additional information. Those outside of Wayland are also welcome to volunteer as many hands make light work.
Some ways volunteers can help the cause include pushing riders through the town, filling vendor needs for meals, snacks, and drinks, and assisting with set up and tear down.
