Wayland Lions Club inducts new member

The Wayland Lions Club held their November 15, 2022 meeting at “Your Choice Restaurant.” There were 15 members in attendance.
President Jay Meyer called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Invocation was given by President Jay Meyer, blessing those attending the meeting and the meal.
Lion Secretary Bill Grimm gave the minutes from the last meeting and Treasurer Terry Kaufman gave the Treasurer’s Report. Both were accepted unanimously.
The meeting resumed after the meal.
November Old Business:
Janet Sterling’s Memorial Gift to the Wayland Lions Club was approved for Donation to the Wayland Area’s Children’s Organization. A Memorial framed acknowledgement in Janet’s name will be presented to the organization with the donation check.
President Jay Meyer reported that the Halloween “Meet and Greet on Main Street” was a resounding success. Six Wayland Lions Club members volunteered in the greeting of approximately 340 children.
Wayland Lions Club voted to provide two American Flags, for the American Flag Program’s 5 Holidays, to Eichelberger Farms Office Building on Route 78. The purpose is to acknowledge their constant support of Wayland Lions Club Pancake Breakfast and other activities. The proposal passed unanimously.
The Wayland Lions Club members also approved awarding the Melvin Jones Fellowship Plaque to Eichelberger Family Farms for their continuous support. The award will be presented to Eichelberger Family Farms at the January 17, 2023 meeting.
Wayland Lions Club members approved a donation for Wayland Community member’s eyeglasses.
November New Business:
Wayland Lions Club members were pleased to have President Jay Meyer induct Amina Ferdig as a New Member. Amina was Sponsored by her mother, Theresa Ferdig. This is an example of a Wayland family contributing to the Wayland communities. Lion Amina is pictured receiving her Lion Membership Certificate from President Jay Meyer, with Lion Theresa Ferdig looking on with pride.
Lions Stan Meyer and Theresa Ferdig are coordinating the Annual Christmas Party for their members and spouses. Julie Pearson will cater the meal at Wayland Community Center on December 20, 2022. Entertainment will be provided by the WACO High School students.
Guest speaker Bill Shutters rescheduled his presentation on Diabetes until the March 21, 2023 meeting.
7:35 PM Lion Theresa Ferdig made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Lion Amina Ferdig seconded. Passed/Adjourned

Members meet on the 3rd Tuesday of every month.
Meetings start @ 6:30 PM & adjourns around 7:45 to 8:00 PM.
