Winfield gives spring clean up guidelines

WINFIELD — Despite cold temperatures this last week, the Winfield community should prepare for the citywide Spring cleanup May 10
According to the City of New London, any items intended for pick up during spring cleaning must be curbside by 7 a.m. on trash pickup day.
The city reminds residents that crews will not rake or scoop up loose piles of trash on the curb and piles may not exceed 8 feet long by 8 feet deep by 3 feet height per household.
The city released the following guidelines for accepted and not accepted items.
Accepted Items:
Miscellaneous unwanted household items, including two furniture items
One window and one door per household
Regular household waste
One 6-foot long rolled and tied piece of carpet
Appliances (without food waste inside) including: washers, dryers, water heaters, refrigerators, air conditioning units, microwaves, and stoves
Miscellaneous scrap metal items
Dried latex paint (No other chemicals)
Miscellaneous bagged or boxed trash
Not Accepted Items:
Oil based paint and all chemicals
Tires
Concrete, bricks, or ashes
Construction or demolition material
Loose piles of trash
