WINFIELD — County Fair Queens from Winfield-Mt. Union will reign this next year after three students received crowns at fairs this past week.
Incoming WMU Senior Josie Nelson earned the titles of 2024 Louisa County Fair Queen and Personality Plus. Nelson also walked away from the Louisa County Fair with an Academic Achievement Award from the queen contest.
The 2023 Louisa County Fair Queen Jacie Hoeg, of Wapello, crowned Nelson as this year’s queen. Nelson, however, is not new to this honor as she represented Louisa County as the 2022 Junior Fair Queen only a few years ago.
When Nelson isn’t competing for a crown, she keeps busy with volleyball, wrestling, track, softball, 4H, FFA, and dance team among many other clubs and activities.

In addition to Nelson nabbing a crown, WMU student Scarlett Jones will serve as the 2024 Louisa County Fair Princess.
Earlier in the week, another WMU student, Beatrice Anderson also won a county fair queen title. Anderson will reign as the 2024 Henry County Fair Junior Queen this year.
Anderson will be a junior at WMU this fall where she is involved in many activities including art club, band, silver cord, FFA, Student Leadership, and speech.
The 2024 Henry County Fair Junior Queen enjoys reading, sewing, baking, and crafting in her free time. Her favorite fair activities include judging Clover Kids projects, showing goats, and hanging out wit her friends.
Anderson plans to attend Iowa State University after graduation and studying to be a large animal veterinarian with a nutrition specialty.
