WINFIELD — The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves are currently preparing for a fun-filled homecoming week leading up to the big game against English Valleys, Friday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
The week begins with Boom Night Sunday, Sept. 17 at 5 p.m. with homecoming king and queen coronation, a powder puff volleyball game, performance from the dance team, and a powder puff football game.
After kicking the week off with an action-packed Boom Night, students are invited to participate in themed dress-up days to show off their school spirit Monday-Friday.
Monday, students can wake up a little later and simply wear their pajamas to school for the first themed day followed by cheering on their younger classmates as the junior high volleyball team plays against Wapello at 4:30 p.m. and the junior varsity football team plays at Springville at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, school spirit will be synonymous with patriotism with USA Day followed by a cross-country meet beginning at 4:30 in Mt. Pleasant.
As excitement builds for the big game, students are invited to wear their best Wacky Wednesday outfits for the middle of the week theme and enjoy the homecoming parade beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Community members interested in putting a float in the homecoming parade should contact Shawna McCabe at Shawna.mccabe@wmucsd.org and Jill Blake at jill.blake@wmucsd.org
Beach Day, Thursday, at WMU will wrap up with SEISC Volleyball Pool Play at 4 p.m. and junior high volleyball versus Louisa-Muscatine at 4:30 p.m.
At the height of the homecoming excitement, students will end the week dressing in red, black, and white for Spirit Day before heading off to the big game in hopes of a win against English Valleys at 7 p.m.
Following the game, junior and senior high schools will hopefully celebrate a win with a dance from 9-11 p.m.
