WINFIELD — After going up against WACO last Friday for the Warriors’ homecoming game, Winfield-Mt. Union prepares for its own homecoming this Friday, Sept. 20.
The festivities kicked off Sunday, Sept. 15 with the coronation of 2024 WMU Homecoming King Cooper Buffington and Queen Olivia Martinez. The rest of the court included queen candidates: Pacey Schlee, Sofia Boschi, Josie Nelson, Rachel Tapia, and Summer Neubauer; and king candidates: Kohlby Newsom, Sheaden Adams, Jake Edwards, and Sinjin Brown. Additionally, Ceila Malone and Henry Shinstock served as this year’s Junior Royalty.
The rest of Boom Night continued with loud cheers as students played Boom Volleyball and Powder Puff Football. The night also featured a performance from the school’s dance team.
Students then came to school Monday for Pajama Day. They will continue dressing up their week with Celebrity/Character Day, Class Color Day, 80/90s Day, and School Spirit Day.
The homecoming parade will be Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Friday at 3:30 p.m. WMU will pump up the school spirit with a pep rally before the 7 p.m. game against Montezuma. Win or lose, the week will conclude with the homecoming dance from 9-11 p.m.
