WINFIELD—Winfield-Mount Union students have received technology upgrades in the form of iPads thanks to grant funds.
According to Zac Hamburg, the school utilized Emergency Connectivity Funds from USAC to purchase new iPads for the elementary classrooms.
Currently, the school technology team is still working on getting the technology into all of the classrooms.
“We have the hardware and we are working on rolling it out to classrooms as quickly as we can,” Hamburg said.
“We are excited to get the new iPads into the hands of our elementary students and give teachers the tools to make learning fun and engaging,” a WMU statement read.
Previously, elementary classrooms were using a mix of old MacBook Airs from a previous 1:1 High School deployment and some old Chromebooks.
According to a statement from WMU schools, “The focus of WMU is to provide the most current tools and resources to our students.”
School officials chose iPads as a way to “empower students to maximize their full potential and to prepare them for secondary education and the modern world,” the statement read.
According to the statement, WMU anticipates the iPad use will advance student knowledge and understanding of technology, and in the process help create better critical thinkers as they use the tools to express their ideas and demonstrate understanding of what they are learning.
