MT. PLEASANT — Jane Anne Boutique welcomed community members to a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the expansion of their shop.
Located in the lower level of the building that houses VanDenHout Chiropractic, three generations of women made sure each individual entering the shop felt welcomed.
Shop owner, Kathie Brune’s mother Sara Weschler greeted each guest, invited them to sign up for a drawing, and enjoy refreshments from White Trash Gourmet.
Brune welcomed many of the guests by name, asked about their families, and commented on previous conversations or purchases.
When someone she did not recognize popped in, Brune made sure to give them an extra wide smile, introduce herself, and ask about more than what they hoped to find.
Brune spent much of the time chatting about people’s children, their work, and yes, their purchases.
“You yeah! You’re getting a good deal, sister,” Brune exclaimed as she checked out one guest.
Previously, Brune used this space as photography studio, but slowly, with help, she began to expand the space into a considerable boutique.
“I kept saying I was not going to use that space at all. That’s my photography room,” Brune said pointing toward the back of the show which is now filled with clothing options.
She said the expansion happened gradually.
“I’m just going to put one more rack in there, and then one more, and then one more, and we slowly went all the way,” she said. “We’re all the way to the back and we can’t go any further.”
Smiles crossed many faces and many shoppers commented on the amount of inventory available in the space.
As a shop with three generations of women, Brune, her mother, and her 23-year-old daughter, Brune puts an importance in offering a variety of merchandise.
“We say we want to have something for everyone from 10 to 100,” Brune said with a smile.
“She’s 23,” Brune said as she pointed out her daughter Rylee. “I’m going to be 50 this year, and then there is my mom and we’re all working here together.”
“So, I want [my mom] to walk in and want something, and I want [my daughter] to walk in and find something,” she said. “I want everybody to find something, whatever shape and size you are.”
Brune, her mother, and her daughter curate a boutique that does just that.
With clothes ranging from small to XXL, accessories of all shapes and colors, and even selections of cups, key chains, and more made specifically by Rylee, these three women certainly offer enough to make that possible.
