MT. PLEASANT — As the Henry County Board of Supervisors and Planning and Zoning Committee continue to examine the land use map, the public may attend a special meeting with both groups, Monday, June 12 at 5 p.m.
This joint meeting will cover discussion of the future land use map within two miles of Mt. Pleasant, specifically focusing on the Southwest area.
Last month, Chad Ebeling met with the Board of Supervisors concerning a parcel of land in that area.
Ebeling hopes for the county to make a change to the zoning in that area so he can start a concrete plant just outside the west side of Mt. Pleasant.
During the last public meeting with the board, the supervisors decided to send the topic back to Planning and Zoning in hopes of receiving additional information and a more comprehensive understanding of zoning needs for the county.
“The idea was to look at the west-southwest area initially because there was an issue at hand,” Supervisor Chair Chad White clarified.
While they will initially look at this specific section, the board anticipates reviewing more of the land use map going forward.
“When we did land use maps prior, we did sections at a time, and we would go to the communities and visit, if there was any attendance,” Supervisor Lindeen explained to an interested citizen at the Thursday, June 8, supervisors’ meeting.
The meeting Monday evening is open to the public and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.
