On April 5, 2025, New London High School held the Junior-Senior prom on a cool, but clear evening. The theme this year was “Under the Stars.”
The night started with the promenade, as is tradition. It was emceed by Scott and Jennifer Campbell and began at 7 p.m. The kids walked down a section of the HS gym, lined with twinkling gold lights. Everyone that attended had their “moment in the sun” as their names were called. They stopped to get their picture taken under a canopy of white, gold, and navy balloons and more golden lights. After everyone had been introduced to the crowd, they mingled with their friends and families with more picture-taking.
The girls were resplendent in their sparkling dresses of every color under the rainbow.
The only challenge seemed to be walking in those towering high heels. Not to be outdone, the boys were looking handsome in their tuxes and suits.
But this elegant evening didn’t just happen. A group of juniors and seniors that included Alexa Lair, Lily Syfert, Logan Franklin, Carter Adams, Taylor Fuller, Savannah Oge, Landon Lair, Elyse Henry, and Stevey Wintermeyer helped decorate the Clark Elementary Gym in navy and gold for the dance. Desserts were provided by Samantha Kelly with Brown Box Bakery, and Barb Meyer from I Know a Lady. The FCS class also made Chex mix. The sophomore servers were Riley Raines, Ian Lipper, Shay Wilka and Natalie Fisher.
The dance was DJ'd by Karl Schaefer, and was held from 8-11 p.m. What could be better than food and dancing!
Post-prom began at 11:45 p.m. as they moved back to the high school gym. Walmart donated many prizes and parents fundraised for the rest. Lena Jones headed up the post-prom committee. The kids always have a fun time at post-prom and this year was no different; They played games and won prizes. Tired but happy, they left the school having had a great time while never leaving New London.
The prom sponsors this year were Alaina Nelson, Tori Kenel, and Allison Lair. Ann Steffensmeier and Lindsay Wesely also chaperoned. This is Mrs. Nelson’s 10th year of organizing prom.
A big thank-you to the many teachers and parents who worked long and hard to give the kids a night to remember… mission accomplished!
