While this year’s Homecoming celebration was without a football game, it nevertheless was a great week for the students and all the rest of us. It’s not that the football game wasn’t missed, it was. But it seemed like everyone made the best of a bad situation.
As a recap, the festivities started on Sunday evening, Sept. 28 when the kickball contest was on.
The student body seems to have an insatiable desire to play kickball. After the better part of two hours, the juniors were victorious.
On Monday, the homecoming candidates were announced. They were Zeke Lemley, Logan Franklin, London Franklin, Brigham Porter, Cale Westerbeck, Zoe Long, Colbie Nealey, Katelyn Allen, Molly Proost, and Kennedy Herrick.
There were volleyball games throughout the week. Friday afternoon, there were games and competitions in the gym. On Wednesday night, it was Boom Night! The evening featured a parade, the annual beefcake volleyball match, and the juniors vs. the seniors in a powder puff game.
The parade featured various teams, classes, and organizations. The homecoming candidates were in golf carts. It was enjoyed by a big crowd.
The junior boys swept the senior boys in a spirited volleyball match. The powder puff ended in a 21-21 tie.
The ten homecoming candidates were reintroduced accompanied by their parents. After a short biography was read about each, the 2025 Homecoming King and Queen were crowned: King Zeke Lemley and Queen Zoe Long. Congratulations to both!
The kids had a good time even though it was missing the football game. The toilet paper brigade was out in force. The final event was the homecoming dance on Friday night.
Homecoming was a great time even with the adjustments. Way to go NLHS students and thanks to the school administration, the teachers, the parents, and everyone who made this event special. Go Tigers!!!!
