Ball Season So Far

Tuesday, May 28, the Lady Tigers started their softball season. Mediapolis erupted in the second and fourth innings with 12 runs. The Tigers scored their only run in the third inning and lost 14-1.
The boys also played on the 28th and they, too, played Mediapolis. The Tigers had two hits scoring one run. Memphis Watson pitched six innings suffering the 1-7 loss.
On May 29, the Tigers trounced Lone Tree, 11-0. They had seven hits with Michael Raines hitting a home run. Brendan Richey had three RBIs, Memphis Watson and Michael Raines had two, and Tate Welcher and Riley Raines each had one. Gavin Menke-Bailey got the win.
The Lady Tigers also played Lone Tree on the 29th. They scored one run in the third while Lone Tree had a seven runs in the third inning. They stopped the Tigers, 13-1.
On May 30, the baseball team faced Keota. The Tigers turned 12 hits into 10 runs, but it wasn’t quite enough. Brendan Richey pitched four innings. Michael Raines and Israel Lemley each pitched one with Lemley getting the loss. The Eagles scored eight in the fifth which cost the Tigers the game, 10-14.
On the 30th, the softball team took on the Holy Trinity Crusaders, losing 6-1. The Tigers’ only run came in the second inning.
The Tiger baseball team faced the West Burlington Falcons and came away with a 10 to 6 win. Gavin Menke-Bailey hit a home run. Gage Burden had three hits, two singles and a double. Brendan Richey and Michael Raines each had a single. Memphis Watson had two doubles. Sullivan Barron hit three singles and Cale Westerbeck hit two. Michael Raines got the win.
The softball team faced the undefeated WB-ND Falcons. When the dust cleared, the Tigers had taken it on the chin, 2-13.
