Southeast Iowa Union offers audio versions of articles using Instaread. Some words may be mispronounced.
T’was several nights before Christmas and all through the house not a creature was stirring … with the exception of the baby that was to be named Carter. He decided it was time to go, so he made his first appearance on Dec. 10, 2007.
His parents, Tony Adams and Valerie Lybarger-Adams, joyously welcomed their new baby boy. On hand for their first introduction were siblings Olivia and Devin Lybarger, now 27 and 25 respectively. Sister Evelyn Adams, 15, would appear at a later date.
The grandparents, also overjoyed, were Carol Carns and Harold and Mary Adams.
Carter has been a “lifer” in the Class of 2026. He was there from the beginning.
He has been busy at school for the last four years. He has participated in trap shooting, football, baseball, track, basketball, 4-H, and FFA. When he has free time, he hangs out with friends and has a good time.
Carter’s proudest moment in high school was shooting 194 birds out of 200 for state trap. His most embarrassing was having to take Lit workshop from 6th grade to his junior year.
Nicknamed Nitro, he feels that his class is special because every one is different. He is most looking forward to shooting trap and graduating.
When asked to pick a special person or persons he would like to recognize, Carter picked Mrs. Bliven (PE) and Mrs. Campbell (Eng.). Of them he says, “They have been the best teachers and friends I have had. They always put up with my crap. They always make everyone in the room excited to be there with maybe the exception of Logan Franklin and me. Mrs. Campbell would never put those two in the same classroom.”
His advice to the upperclassmen is “ignore whatever Mrs. Bliven is saying to you at all times!”
Carter’s future plans are to attend DMACC and become a utility power lineman in a year.
Tiger Nation wishes him every success and has no doubt he will make us all proud!
