Almost everyone who completed high school or at least their junior year has memories of prom. They can be some of the best or some of the worst from high school, but regardless they were memorable.
New ones were made on April 15 when New London High School hosted this year’s junior-senior prom.
The weather cooperated for the most part and the pre-prom pictures were not rained out, as the kids proved once again they cleanup pretty well.
The evening started with the annual pie action. The Post Prom group uses the proceeds to start to refill the coffers for next year. The bakers generously donated their delicious baked goods and the audience generously snapped them up.
The promenade was next, and family and friends were on hand to ohhh and ahhh. The theme was City Nights, City Lights and was decorated accordingly in black, gold, and silver. Students walked through to music provided by Mason Shelledy.
Prom is always lovely at the winery. There was no specific prom theme, but it was decorated with candles and fresh flowers plus the winery has fairy lights hanging from the ceiling. Approximately 80 attended prom. Sophomore prom servers were Hailee Dudley, Morgan Jones, Sully Bain, and Gage Burden.
The student consensus was that this prom was a lot of fun because everyone got on the dance floor. They were able to throw open the full-length side windows for a great breeze. They loved this year’s DJ, Paul Humphreys.
The dinner, which began after promenade, was a taco buffet with bars and brownies made by Nana Pam’s and cupcakes made by Brown Box Bakery. While not all the students ate at prom, they all get the meal when they pay for their prom tickets. The leftovers were devoured at Post Prom.
The students danced right up until the end at 10:30 and headed off to Post Prom by 11:30.
Post Prom had snacks and games. The hypnotist they were supposed to have canceled at the last minute, but the parents came through with a bags tournament, spikeball courts, and archery. They gave away lots of money, gift cards, and prizes at the end. Everyone took away something. A great time was had by all.
Prom 2023 is in the books … memories were made. The girls sparkled in their finery and the boys were so handsome in their tuxedos. As always, the teachers and the parents put in a lot of time and effort to make it a great time. They were successful … but best of all, everyone made it home safe!
