On Friday, May 31, Clark teachers, students and staff met one final time in the new gym. This final assembly recognized the accomplishments of the students in many areas: mathematics, reading, physical education and the Presidential Achievement Award.
For Clark students, being an MVP does not mean the person who scores the most points. An MVP is one who shows grit and gives 110% in every aspect of physical education. Mr. Burns honored many students for their efforts. Clark is also lucky to have a number of athletes who set Clark records. Imagine a fifth-grader running a mile in under 7 minutes. Academic awards note excellence in mathematical skills and accomplished reading expertise.
The Presidential Achievement Award was founded in 1983. The President and Secretary of Education recognize graduating elementary, middle, and high school students for their achievement and hard work. These students have made outstanding efforts to meet challenging standards of excellence. Each year thousands of students are recognized.
At the end of the assembly, the fifth-graders received Certificates of Completion. After a busy summer, they will begin their careers as Middle School students. Best wishes to all of them.
