Twenty-three New London students completed a year filled with many firsts. Thursday May 25, a milestone was celebrated. These happy youngsters are dressed for their first graduation ceremony. After a relaxing summer, these graduates will enter Kindergarten and officially become the class of 2035.
Wide-eyed and a little intimidated, they marched down the Clark elementary hallway which was lined on both sides with well-wishers of all grade levels. They entered the gymnasium and were greeted by siblings, parents, grandparents, and friends of all ages.
The short program began with the class leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. After the pledge, the group sang four songs and recited a poem. They demonstrated both their language and motor skills they had learned the past year.
Mrs. Schmacher then presented each student with a certificate of completion of PreK skills. Each student stopped in front of a gaily decorated sign so proud relatives could take their picture. After all the formalities, parents picked up a portfolio containing class work prepared by their student. Cupcakes were served to the graduates and cookies to the siblings and friends.
Graduates included Otto Allen, Adalyn Demerval, Liam Harding, Vincent Heitmann, Eli Keller, Amelia Lipper, Aria Mordick, Abagail, Mowen, Cenna Stout, Decon Strothman, Henry Swailes, Parker Thannert, Bentley VanAmerogen, Willow Boyles, Elanor Wilhelm, and Miles Windfelder in the morning class. The afternoon class members were Lucia Aranda, Leo Brau, Hyrum, Davis, Luka Gracey, Axel Hummel, Sawyer Schmacher, Easton Syperda, Kollins Syperda and Stephen Voyles.
