Class of ‘24 walks gauntlet for the last time

One of the traditional events of Senior Week is a walk through Clark Elementary, Middle School and High School hallways. Teachers and students take this opportunity to share memories, laughs and tears. The joy of completing high school and facing a new future is tempered somewhat by the goodbyes.
This group of students has seen major changes. The gauntlet at Clark is lined with classrooms the entire distance now. The elementary gym-multipurpose room has been converted to classrooms and a library. For some of the 2024 class, their introduction to the new gym was when they entered it for prom. One wonders if they are jealous of the class of 2037. Are they wondering what NLCSD will be like when their replacements graduate?
Every activity during this last week of school for the seniors is bittersweet. Days are full. There is classwork to complete, meetings giving instructions for graduation, parties to plan and last-minute demands from both school and work. There is a bright future out there and it begins now.
