VFW Post 7641 serving a St. Patrick’s Day dinner
VFW Post 7641, 802 East McKinley, New London, will serve corned beef and cabbage with Irish potatoes Friday, March 17 from 5-7 p.m. or until gone. Free will donation funds will be used to support the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Transport Van in honor of deceased comrade, Rex Dovenspike. The public is invited and everyone is encouraged to support this cause.
The Little Mermaid will be presented at NLHS auditorium March 17 and 18
Put theses dates on your calendar and plan to attend this fun musical performed by the Middle and High School students. Evening performances are at 7 p.m. On Saturday, a matinee begins at 2 p.m.
“Iowa Rocks” and Geode Cracking at Oakland Mills Saturday March 18
Henry County Conservation is hosting a program on Iowa rocks. From 10-11:30 a.m. come to the Nature Center at Oakland Mills for Iowa Rocks and Geode Cracking with Mike Messer. Find out about how Iowa was formed, what creatures live here long ago and learn more about cool rocks and fossils. This is a free program. Preregistration at mycountyparks.com is appreciated but not necessary.
New London School Board to meet Monday, March 20
On Monday, March 20 at 6 p.m., the New London School Board will hold its regular monthly meeting. All members of the school district are welcome. A sign-up sheet is available as you enter the boardroom if you wish to address the Board regarding a school issue.
Sixth Grade Parents/Guardians meeting Monday, March 20
At 6 p.m. in the HS gym, a mandatory meeting will be held for parents and guardians of all sixth-graders. The success of the Sixth Grade Campout depends on this important informational and organizational meeting.
SEISC Quiz Bowl to be held at Pekin HS Tuesday, March 21
Multiple schools will compete in the SEISC Quiz Bowl at Pekin HS at 4 p.m.
SEISC Select Band Festival performs at Central Lee HS Thursday, March 23
Members of multiple school bands from the SEISC will perform at Central Lee HS at 6:30 p.m., March 23
