This year’s Community Day is especially memorable.
After spending several days helping with tornado cleanup, the New London students and staff turned out again to help the community with ordinary spring tasks. Originally scheduled for Friday, April 27, the administration changed the date to Thursday, April 26. It was a great decision. Thursday was sunny and a fun day to be outdoors.
Community members contacted the school and listed their chores. The only restriction was that no power tools were to be used. Yard work was the overwhelming chore described, with help window washing second.
Mr. May and Industrial Tech students removed a small deck and cleared a rock bed. Mrs. Lair and Mrs. Denney led another group to Burge Cemetery for additional pickup. All the teachers and staff again were on-hand to supervise and help students. In addition to the many yards raked and beautified, playing fields and school grounds were spruced up. As one drove through town, the student work was very apparent. The day ended with everyone healthy and happy.
