Save the Date! The first rendition of “Deadline” is scheduled Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. And on Saturday, Nov. 9, two presentations are scheduled: the matinee is at 2 p.m. and the final performance at 7 p.m. Don’t miss these opportunities to enjoy the Masqued Tigers as they entertain the community.
“Deadline” is not just a murder mystery. It is a murder mystery comedy. Our actors are challenged as their characters are exaggerated for the sake of humor. Imagine the following scenario and come prepared to put yourself in the shoes of the performers.
The most celebrated mystery writer since Agatha Christie dies a mysterious death. He is in the middle of writing his last play. The play is to open on Broadway in a very short time. Two struggling playwrights are called in to finish the play in the ridiculous “Deadline” of one week. Yikes!
The play they are completing is “Bloody Relations.” As they read the 25 existing pages, the playwrights become embroiled in the plot. Now they must deal with an estranged family will reading, solve a mystery as it becomes a matter of life and death and save the play. “Deadline” is a bit of “Clue” and “Knives Out” and a lot of fun!
The audience will have to pay close attention as the estranged family jumps from the pages, become real and join the story. The playwrights are besieged with greedy heirs, a burial at sea and their own confusion. With the usual suspicions and red herrings, thunder and lightning flashes and clichéd musical clues, the script is finished in the nick of time. Who? Why? Will we ever really know?
Come — enjoy the twists and turns, The ending is appropriately surprising as it should be! Will you be able to name the perpetrator?
