Dominic Lopez
Apr. 20, 2023 12:12 pm, Updated: Apr. 26, 2023 8:52 am
Dominic was born on November 1, 2004 to Carl and Billie Lopez. Often called Dom, he joined older brother Marcel. His grandparents are Dan and Joni Vice, Mercedes White, and the late Victor Lopez.
Dom has been a Tiger since 7th grade. He has played football for four years, and participated in track and baseball for one year…. then there’s wrestling. Anyone that follows New London wrestling is well-aware of Dom Lopez. He has left an indelible mark on the record books. His accomplishments are many. They include:
•4-time state place winner and district champ.
•3-time conference champ.
•All-time state win leader.
•3-time first team All-Union (wrestling).
•First team all-conference - quarterback
•First team all-conference - utility (football).
Dom was also a member of the 2022 Homecoming Court. In his spare time, he can be found “hanging with the boys.”
His proudest moment was breaking the school take-down record that was previously held by his brother. Dom has picked Marcel as the person he’d most like to give special recognition. He says of Marcel, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.”
When asked what’s special about the Class of 2023, he says Vinny. Dom’s advice to the underclassmen is “you gotta move different if you want different.”
He is looking forward to prom as high school winds down. His future plans include wrestling at SIUE and studying graphic design.
Tiger Nation will miss Dom next year as football and wrestling begin, but wish him great success in his college career.
