The Filling Station youth Group consists of approximately 40 New London area students. The group is composed of grades 6-12. There are also 13 dedicated leaders. The group does service projects throughout the year. Heather Oliver expressed how much the group appreciates the help and support of the surrounding community.
The group walked the streets of New London Nov. 6 from 7-8 p.m. They gathered non-perishable food items for the Tiger Pantry. A great time was had by all and many many homes had their porch lights on and were donating to this cause. An extra bonus for the young people was all the nice people they met and the thank yous they received.
Laurie Jo McBeth noted on the Tiger Pantry Facebook page, “The youth group from the New London Christian Church did an awesome job in the food drive for the Tiger Food Pantry.”
All the pantry volunteers were warmed by the smiles and the young faces and their willingness to help. McBeth also issued a huge thank you goes to the adults teaching community mindedness.
The Tiger Food Pantry was formed in 2019. Many families and seniors are helped on a weekly basis. Put donating to the Food Pantry at the top of your list if you have the means.
