Fun Day originally began as a mini track meet for fourth and fifth grade with the other grades as spectators. Mr. Palmatier felt that more students should be involved and the day morphed into an afternoon filled with multilevel activities. A big part of Fun Day included events involving water. This year the weather would not cooperate and Fun Day was canceled. Fortunately, the staff and volunteers got together and came up with many alternatives.
The day was cold, cloudy and uninviting. Clark students would not be deterred. They brought warmth, sunny smiles and welcoming enthusiasm. Students filled the Clark playground. Volunteers showed up in force. Fun Day was reinvented.
With the increasingly unpredictable weather families are faced with planning many alternatives to either extra hot or extra cold or extra wet or extra dry days. This year’s Fun Day adaptable response assures one that summer will still be relaxing and fun for all.
