School ends Friday May 31 at 11 a.m., but the library is already putting the finishing touches on its summer plans. The theme of this year’s summer reading program’s theme is “Walk the Walk.”
The library reading program participants will demonstrate by their behavior that reading is an important part of life. Readers will prove that giving up screen time leads to adventures well-described on paper. Stop in the library and sign up for the fun.
The library staff will be present at the Stride into Summer Health Walk. There are many outdoor activities that are enhanced by library media as well as books on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Other outdoor activities such as Foam Blaster in the Park are planed.
There will be activities this summer that require registration. They are clearly marked. Registration ensures there will be enough materials available for the activity. There is a class size as well. The Teen Program is combining watching the Lisa Frankenstein Movie with making Franken stuffies. Anyone who has stuffed animals to donate to the project, the library will welcome the donations. Stuffies will be cut up and rearranged into new creatures from the vivid imaginations of our teens.
It takes many businesses and organizations to produce a successful summer program. A few of them are Healthy Henry County, Henry County Conservation Department, Absolute ,Science, Michelle Baker Dance, Kim’s Upcycled Krafts and many others. Soon a list will be available of all who helped provide prizes for New London’s readers and library supporters.
Take a moment and join New London’s creative librarians — have a summer reading new genres, sharing ideas and creating artwork.
