Henry County Easter Egg and Antler Hunt produces many smiles

On Thursday, March 28, the Henry County Conservation Staff welcomed 174 people to the Oakland Mills park. The staff shed hunted and collected shed antlers. These extra “prizes” were added to the Easter Egg quest.
Two areas were provided to hunt. Very young children hunted by the shelter at the top of the hill and older students hunted down the trail passing by the syrup processing station. The shelter house held many activities for children to do. The weather was great, so finding things in nature that matched a color chart or coloring nature pictures or just enjoying the outdoors added to the fun. Families had a chance to find out about more activities planned at the Nature Center.
April 1 is the beginning date of summer camp registration. April 12 the campground on the river opens. April 13 will find registrants building bird houses and April 23 a prairie exhibition will be held. Keep checking the calendar and supporting Henry County Conservation and Recreation efforts.
