The mission of the Henry County Public Health Center is to “promote physical and mental health and prevent disease, injury and disability.” The Center’s office is in Mount Pleasant. Regular vaccination clinics are held on Tuesdays 9-11 a.m., Wednesdays & Thursdays 1-4 p.m. with the first and third Thursdays of each month extending hours 1-6pm.
Wednesday, Oct. 18, the Henry County staff held an Immunization Clinic in the New London Community Center. The service was greatly appreciated by community members. Providing the immunizations locally saved many people the drive to Mount Pleasant. Business was steady. Although it is far from certain, it appears that COVID will become a seasonal illness such as flu and require a yearly vaccine.
The Henry County Public Health office issues regular updates on the status of vaccines and those eligible for immunizations. Both COVID and Flu vaccinations were offered at Wednesday’s clinic. The current update information is shown below:
- A new COVID vaccine has been authorized by the CDC to better target the variants currently circulating. We have the updated Moderna vaccine for all ages.
- An updated Novavax vaccine has also been approved but we do not have any in stock and do now know when we will receive it.
- Individuals five years of age and older are eligible to receive a single dose of an updated COVID-19 vaccine at least two months after the last dose of any COVID-19 vaccine.
- Unvaccinated individuals are also encouraged to receive the updated vaccine.
- Children six months through four years of age are eligible to receive up to three doses of the children’s formula, based on current vaccination status.
Henry County Public Health offers complete service. There is no cost for the updated vaccine, HCPH will bill your insurance provider. Recipients are asked to bring their insurance cards. Uninsured and underinsured individuals can receive the updated vaccine at no cost through the government’s Bridge Access Program. Henry County Public Health offers many more services.
